The Unique Personality of Italian Brand Furniture

moroso also opens a mono-brand store in Omotesando, Tokyo

In December 2023, moroso made a comeback on the Japanese market. Founded in 1952, it is a family-run brand headed by Patrizia Moroso, a prominent businesswoman in the Italian design industry. Known for its artistic furniture such as the "Supernatural", "Tropical Chair" and "Ripple Chair", moroso preserves all its furniture without discontinuation. A mono-brand store was opened between Kotto-dori and Aoyama Gakuin University. The front showcases the new piece "Pebble Rubble," a sofa replicating the form of natural stones, with the option to cover it with fabrics developed by the brand Kvadrat, imitating moss, minerals, and the appearance of the first snow.

Mindful of commonalities with art

Yasuda Shipyard in Ota-ku, Tokyo, has become the official distributor for moroso. In Italy, custom interiors are common for luxury cruise ships, creating a deep connection between the ship and furniture industries. The president of the company, Takayuki Nozawa, explains, "As a brand with a strong family philosophy, we received an offer through a fortunate connection, having been noticed every year in Milan and New York." He also points out the shared attributes with art, emphasizing moroso as one of the few brands capable of enriching lifestyle through the fusion of design and art.
