ORGATEC TOKYO: The Unfolding Possibilities of Office Furniture
KOKUYO’s exhibit for this year focused on a single product — a choice that led to its success and earned the company both the Grand Prize and the Best Stand Design Award: Chosen by Exhibitors. Many visitors lined up to enter the booth, formed of faint white materials arranged in a spiral that created a centripetal pull. At the centre, a single office chair awaited.

While many companies exhibited a wide range of products, KOKUYO focused on showcasing and allowing visitors to experience the “ingCloud” chair. This new chair features the 3D Ultra Auto Fit mechanism, an original technology by KOKUYO that uses gravity to dynamically distribute body pressure, making the chair suit any posture. When the user sits in it, it supports their body gently, giving a sensation of sitting on a cloud. As a KOKUYO PR representative explains, “More than ‘sitting’, being enveloped is what we want all our visitors to experience.

Presenting a single product thoroughly leaves a strong impression. Because trade shows can often overwhelm you with information, this presentation style felt very novel. Visitors’ imaginations were also stirred by an installation with visuals based on digital data on pressure distribution and a tabletop with text written by a copywriter randomly projected onto it.

Furthermore, operational aspects such as the stand being put together in a way that makes it easy to see how long you will have to wait to enter, putting the people waiting at ease, were rather insightful for public spaces.
