2025 On-site report
ORGATEC TOKYO: The Unfolding Possibilities of Office Furniture
・NICHIESU
NICHIESU, a major importer of outdoor brand furniture, showcased lifestyle brands such as Belgium's Tribù and Germany's DEDON which transform terraces and courtyards into living spaces. Featuring clear thematic vision, their booth has become a staple of ORGATEC TOKYO.

This year, with the theme “Swinging”, the booth prominently featured hanging sofas and beds. Visitors could return to childhood and enjoy the sensation of swaying. It was one of the liveliest participation-based booths at the show.

・Karimoku
Karimoku’s theme for this year was “We Can Make Anything”. They showed off the technological capabilities of their in-house factories in Aichi, Gifu, Akita, Hokkaido, and even Malaysia. The company presented itself not just through its products, but as a “factory brand”, highlighting its distinctive technical skills and ability to maintain consistent quality in mass production.

The main "We Can Make Anything" area included a variety of seemingly bizarre objects that however each incorporated special techniques. There were striped patterns made by joining maple and cherry wood, blocks of cedar timber bonded together and carved into wave-like surfaces, and a wide variety of joinery methods, from mitre joints and dowel joints to finger joints, all connecting the wood precisely without the use of metal fittings. This single space alone showcased countless examples of the craftsmanship found Karimoku’s factories.

Karimoku showed off how even with the same chair and same design, there can be a variety of colours, wood types and sizes. This demonstrated the capability of their factories to handle mass production of custom-made products as well.

When ORGATEC TOKYO started in 2022, the effects of the pandemic could still be felt, and it was a rough time for places and events where people gather. However, as the years have passed, the fair has managed to gather a diverse lineup of exhibitors and visitors. Now in its fourth edition, ORGATEC TOKYO boasted a mix of established brands that are its calling card, as well as brands that are freshly taking up the challenge of exhibiting.
